Nay to Gay in India…

So all hell broke lose, the earth fell off its axis when India saw its 2nd commercial gay film released..  Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon.

No one is mentioning My Brother Nikhil any more. Why? Is it because the gay story line was very subtle? If people chose to not recognize it as a gay film, they can fool themselves by saying, “Its just friendship.” As there were no kisses or a sex scene in the film. That’s so naive. Or should I say hypocritical.

And Yuvraaj Parasher has been disowned by his family.

Way to go. I came out to my sister 3 weeks back. I was ready to come out to my entire family but my sister asked me not to. Which is fine. But when I decided to come out, I had reached a point where, if my family had disowned me, I wouldn’t have cared. My sister didn’t. She said, it doesn’t matter to her. I am still her little brother. And don’t get me wrong, I love my family to death.

But when a gay man comes out to his family, he has already evaluated the aftermath and has reconciled with that fact. So disowning him, would not make much of a difference. He is not going to turn straight. Disowning is used like a punishment. A punishment that really has no effect on the person as he already has braised himself for that, knew it was coming and already has tuned his mind to move on. In reality…HE shuns them and just carries on.

What these families don’t understand, that we move on. Its them who loses. You shun us, there is a whole world out there who would accept us. At one point, the constant pain would reduce to an occasional pinch and then to nothing. But its the family who would be frozen in time.

And in this case, as Yuvraaj is in movies, they would be reminded of him everytime his face is splashed on the tabloid. The irony is, he is not even gay. Atleast we don’t know …. yet.

So it Yuvraaj… hang in there kiddo. There is a bigger family out there who has open their arms wide to take you in. Whether you are gay or not doesn’t matter to us.

For we don’t judge.

Anti-gay Rabbi on CBS Board

So now we have an openly anti-gay Rabbi Reuven Bulka joining CBS board.

I fail to understand the co-relation between such an act and legalization of homosexuality and same sex marriage in this country.

I may be very naive, but what I thought was, when a government/ country legalizes homosexuality and awards equal rights to same sex couples and give them the right to marry, it is trying to shun prejudice and bigotry.

But, we did not get equal rights, did we?

I gave blood to my Mom when she had surgery and to my Dad when he was hospitalized. And I donated blood, too. But that was in India, where at that time homosexuality was still a criminal offence. So no one asked these questions. I didn’t have to disclose my sexuality.

That makes me think, maybe we were better off. So its win some, lose some. We can’t get it all. The Government’s equality agenda is a sham?

So I have two choices. Either I brood on this loss of equality and be angry and frustrated or try to see a brighter side. The brighter side is hospitals don’t refuse blood to the needy gay men.  That means all the ‘straight’ people can donate blood all they want for them and for us. Whether they hate us or love us, their blood just might end up in the body of a gay man. Thats a very comforting thought. Inadvertently they are helping us.

Even all the platelets this Anti-gay Rabbi has donated all his live might just have saved quite a few gay men. I would rather have them donating blood for me than I donating for them. Now THAT, for me, is a trump.

So go on, keep donating and keep saving our lives. I don’t want to donate, and definitely don’t want to save YOUR life.

It’s ok to say “FAG”

Then it’s ok to say “BREEDER” too.

According to James Manning, the Pentecostal minister, HomosexualityBestiality. Never got the connection, myself.

He talks about men or women not getting a partner would turn to bestiality, and that somehow is related to gays. If we go by that, all the people in this world who don’t get regular sex, end up having sex with animals. Wow…thats some equation.

That theory of his is more solid than the Pythagoras Theorem. And he is calling all the “normal” people to stand up against homosexuality and to emphasize the abomination caused by us. It’s OK to call us FAGS, or sodomites or bulldagger… never heard that term before. Homosexuality is worse than sin so in Bible there is no remedy for this kind of behavior.

Or could it be that the reason there is no remedy in the Bible for homosexuality is simply because it is not considered a sin??? Just saying.

And oh, I forgot to mention… AIDS happened in a man’s toilet, please remember that,  incase science  told you otherwise. A man had sex with a donkey and then had sex with a woman and thus AIDS was spread. Scientists should take a crash course from him.

For once, watching the video, I was not angry and that surprised me at first. Then I realized, whatever he said in the video was so ridiculous that all I could, was feel sorry for him. He seemed almost like someone who knows he has lost his battle and this is his last desperate attempt to fight back.

But mind you, its a one sided battle. We didn’t want to fight. They made this into a war, between FAGS and BREEDERS. Our fighting back is an answer to their call.

You want it that way, want to stand up and push back? We know exactly how to do that too.

Bring it on.

Media attack on Uganda gays… a 2nd time

Got my topic to write about today….again.

I have started to realize that the only emotion that gives me the urge to write is anger. The sense of fear, humiliation, embarrassment has, over the years, have given way to fear.

I sincerely hope, other gays across this planet would stop feeling sorry for themselves and get off their bubble butts and do something.

It surprises me, that after all that is going around all over the world, from teen suicides, to “Kill The Gays” bill in Uganda, and ofcourse all the other sporadic anti-gay propaganda and homophobic attacks, majority of gays still have this firm belief that through patience, persistence, talks, and demonstrations, one day, they will change the hearts of the straights.

It has never happened in the world history..ever. It will not happen now.

The sooner we wake up to this fact, the better it would be for the LGBT community.

The innate  nature of humans is to accept things either understanding or through fear. Whether its a child or an adult, the decision to do or not do something is ruled by either understanding the damage it might cause or just out of fear. Tell a kid not to do something…if he doesn’t understand the consequences, parents/adults imbibe fear in them.

If you don’t eat your veggis, you will go blind.” And the kid quietly clears his plate. Not because he understands the necessity of vegetables, but out of fear. But thats ok.

I remember, I used to be told that if I take anything without asking, my arm will fall off. I was petrified, so never took even a penny without asking. When I grew up, that atrocious consequence of stealing was replaced by absolute fear of being beaten to death by my Dad if ever caught in such an act. But that fear achieved the desired result.

Thats exactly what we have to do. The fear of severe consequence needs to be inculcated inside the homophobes, that would make them think not twice but 500 times before attacking a gay man or woman.

The fear, that we have now, about coming out, about people knowing about us, the repercussions… that should change places. The homophobes should realize that they cannot get away with harassment, bullying, physical attacks on LGBT people. We can fight back too.

If we don’t act, we would be reading eternal sob stories about gay bashing for another light
